Introduction
Þóra Eiriksdottir (called Thyra) started attending SCA events in 1998 or 1999, specifically the Black Rose Ball and the Market Day at Birka.
She then went on an expedition to the Dominion of Myrkfaelinn (AEthelmearc) for three years, where she taught European and Middle Eastern dance and helped to run the arts and science workshops.
She returned to her home in Quintavia in 2004, where she enjoys sewing, archery, calligraphy, and serving in the kitchen. In 2010 she became their Minister of Dance.
She was humbled to receive a court barony from Their Majesties Edward and Marguerite at the coronation of Their heirs. The coronet was made by her household, and was accompanied by a scroll in her favorite style by Mistress Eleanor Catlyng.
In November 2011, she was awarded with a Terpsichore for her service to her Shire as dance minister and to her Princess at a delightful ball at Panteria. She also earned the rank of Master Bowman (though it was dormant for a time thereafter).
In February 2012, she became a student under Mistress Eva Woderose.
As AS 47 began (in May 2012), she signed a treaty with Earl Edward Grey of Lochleven, binding their two households together in a common cause and agreeing to serve the East Kingdom as his Consort. Although there were some... disagreements... over that summer regarding the line of succession, she and Edward stood fast on the side of Tradition and the Right Order of Things, with the assistance of the good people of Tir Mara. When good King Kenric passed from this realm after a terrible hunting accident in the fall, Thyra was accepted as Regina Orientalis as per the contract. During her reign, she endeavored to maintain the ideals of good will and celebration within the Kingdom, to serve as an example to the Known World (mostly by dancing at every opportunity). As the year drew to a close, the kingdom astrologers noticed that some of the calculations had been a little off, and the expected thousand-year reign was fated to end a bit early. When comets flew across the bright blue sky at noon, her reign was at an end. Their benevolent Majesties Gregor and Kiena honored her with County lands, and she was accepted into the Order of the Rose.
In AS 49, the weight of prophesy again fell upon Edward and Thyra, as Edward bested the field again at Crown Tournament and claimed the rights of heirs. This time, the readings of the astrological signs all indicated a brief 6-month period in which the two must steer the kingdom through the rocky shoals of winter, then step aside. And lo, it came to pass, and the two survived their trials and passed into retirement again. In accordance with Society law, Thyra was gifted with strawberry leaves.
Lately, she has been back to her old habits of wielding sharp pointy things (arrows, needles, pen nibs) with little regard for life and limb, often while galliarding.
