Introduction
Lady Thallos Alexiou of Brighton Manor.
Member of Thanet House
resides in Malagentia
Some friends brought me to Pennsic in 1995 and it was magical. The SCA is a place where I can have many hobbies and a reason to use what I make. I enjoy sewing and have spent most of my time in the SCA researching and creating garb from different periods. I also enjoy all things string and it's rare to see me without some form of small project in my hands.
For the past several years my love of nature and history have coincided. As I strive to turn my yard into a haven for native plants, I've discovered historical uses for many of the plants considered weeds. I'm beginning a journey into learning the stories of these plants and their uses for dyes and cloth, as well as food.
Offices & Positions
Chronicler - Province of Malagentia January 2008 - January 2010
During this time I kept minutes for our Province Meetings, gathered content and created our print newsletter - The Moonstone, and brought the newsletter online for those who preferred it that way.
Event Volunteer
I volunteer at many events, doing the things that need to be done. Most of what I do is supporting other people so they can run things. I'm a person who helps keep tents from blowing away, refills water jugs, puts trash in garbage cans, puts out chairs, sets up spaces or cleans up after a thing, and makes sure people have food, sunscreen, and water.
I created the site book and other printed materials for Great North Eastern War in 2008. 2009, and 2013

In Case of Court
I like surprises. It is ok to summon me to court, but please don't tell me what it's for.
Contact Micah of Brighton Manor for any planning details.

More Information
My name, Thallos, is one I made up in high school for a GURPS character. When I got to my first Pennsic someone asked me what my SCAdian name was. I said "Thallos" [ta - los] and it stuck. Later when I was researching to get my name and arms passed I found out that Thallos (or variations of the spelling) is the Greek Grace of spring, specifically the new shoots of plants. From there my heraldy was easy to design.
Eras of Garb
I started my garb journey with sideless surcoats and chemises (yes, you read that right. I didn't know any better when I started out).
From there I went on to Italian Renaissance (too fussy and hot, couldn't breastfeed in this), then Persian (pants, but too many layers of sleeves for running after kids), then Turkish (perfect for being a mom - highly recommend), then Greek-esqe (in my don't give a sh*t era), a little bit of Viking (for when it's cold), and finally Roman (I feel very pretty in this one, and it can be practical too) and some 13th C. French (for the heraldric kirtle), with some sidetracks into Bliauts (too much sleeve), and Elizabethan (borrowed. And nope, hoop skirts and porta-johns are not for me), along with the ever present t-tunic and pants.
Enjoy some pictures below. And if you want instructions on the Roman or the Turkish, just ask. They are both simple and I can help you though it.
