Introduction
Greetings! My name is Taichleach (Hal-och) Eoganacht, and I reside in the Barony of Bhakail (Greater Philadelphia Area). I joined the SCA in 2020, the year of the onset of the plague.
My love of this time period began in high school and college, but developed a finer point as I traced the ancestry of my newly found biological family. I learned that I am English (35% and primarily from the Midlands), Scot (31%), Irish (12% and focused in the South West Muenster and the Beara and West Beara Peninsulas), Dane (11%), and Welsh (11%).
This is an eye-opening experience for me. Joining the SCA brought me new skills, a re-invention of old skills, and, most importantly, some of my closest and dearest friends.
Persona
Taichleach Eoganacht could be found roaming southern Ireland in the 12th century. Rumored to take his "surname" from the Eoganachta, and further rumored to be descended from the aristocracy leading newly formed Desmond after the Treaty of Glanmire, Taichleach's specific sept is unknown. While a mystery to those around him, Taichleach was renowned for his mastery of the bow and thrown weapons (though he has yet to demonstrate this skill in the modern day SCA), and found time to engage in the arts, particularly in the art of calligraphy. He made friends at every drinking post and loved telling stories and singing songs with his mates.
