Introduction
Sage (they/them) is a fencer, artist, scribe, photographer, and forester from the Shire of Mountain Freehold. They began their SCA journey in February of 2017.
They are an informal student of Lisabetta Medaglia for illumination. As of 2019 they are a Marshal in Training for Rapier under the careful guidance of Lily Aubrey. At the Great Northeastern War of 2025, they bound themself as a formal student to three Peers: Christiana Crane, Brenden Crane, and Sulicena filia Vassurae.
Sage enjoys spending their time camping, whittling, sketching in the forest, climbing trees, and being outside when others say it's too cold. Their favorite game is Getting Close To Deer, in which they attempt to get close to deer.
On the fencing list, you can find them gleefully laughing upon being slain, and using an antler as a parrying device. Occasionally armed with a needle and fabric, they attack sewing projects with a feral desire to create.

Rapier
Sage is not a competitive person, so you probably won't see them at high-intensity tourneys, but you will see them at smaller gatherings of fencers seeking novel fighting experiences and teaching and learning from friends in the community. They love going to regional practices and helping out at SCA demos talking to prospective fighters. That said, on the off chance they compete in anything of note, it will be listed here.

As an important side note, at GNEW 2025 they fought in their first woods battle. It felt like coming home.
Arts & Sciences
As mentioned previously, Sage isn't competitive and thus does not usually enter in A&S competitions. Being a scribe is a perfect job for them in this game - they get to make all sorts of art from history, then give it to people who make the game better. It's a win-win.

In Case of Court
Please contact Sage's three Peers (Christiana Crane, Brenden Crane, and Sulicena filia Vassurae) if Sage is to be called into Court.
To ensure that Sage's partner, Fennec Eubalaena, can be present if they are called into court, Sage is okay with being told that they will receive an award, and would like to be informed of any details about the event and court at which it will be presented. Fennec (called Fenn) should be contacted if there are any questions about Sage's preferences regarding scrolls and related adornments.
In the event of a scroll: Sage adores dark natural colors and earth tones, green and brown in particular, with a preference for brass and gold over silver. Their favorite tree is the Eastern White Cedar, but also have a special love for Hemlocks and the rest of the conifers. They love deer, unicorns, dragons, and all flora and fauna of the forest. They do not prefer blue, purple, or anything too bright and saturated.
Sage would love to someday receive a scroll made by the incredible Lily Morgaine Grey.
Important: Please refrain from using any plastic in the making of any award or gift for Sage. They will always have a preference for natural materials over synthetic ones.

Sage is also very open to non-traditional scrolls! As a maker of carved wooden scrolls, they are keen to alternative scroll formats, objects as scrolls, and materials such as wood, leather, bone, stone, etc.
