Ode to Albrecht Anker
From EastKingdomWiki
Lord Albrecht Anker commissioned a piece of poetry from John the Long. The work is found below, having been performed at Pennsic 52.
I tell you here of a son of the East
Who's made of many ravens’ feast
Who's served the Kingdom loyally
Who's crossed both East and Western Sea
Albrecht Anker of Oestgardr
Sailor, artist, sometimes Soldier
Fabled Demon King's right hand
Giant of the Roughneck band
At the Fiftieth War he called bolt and stone
At the fifty-first they smashed walls prone
Neath banner Tyger azure blazoned
Marched with glaive to enemies’ End
In lists of honor foes he meets
Twin blades carve all their defeats
But even off the battlefield
His service he'll refuse to yield
He's brought new blood as chatelaine
And shed his own in tailoring
I've said all this to all of thee
To justify one simple plea
Charge your glass and raise it high
And cheer him with me, VIVAT cry!
Now if toward this tale you feel fickle
Know it was free with Long man's pickle
