Introduction

Margarette la Gantiere (Mar-gar-ete la Gan-ter-ie),(she/her), mka Gretchen Schroeder joined the SCA in June of 2022 and resides in the Barony of Bhakail. Her primary interests are in the Scribal Arts, embroidery, tablet weaving and garb making. A scholar at heart, she loves all things research related. She dabbles in ceramics and hopes to explore the art of glove making.

Persona

Mid 14th century French: Margarette la Gantiere spent her childhood in Milau France. Her family were cheese makers and glovers. She became a skilled glove maker and embroideress. Curious and intelligent, Margarette Married Maître Gantiere a merchant, with whom she traveled widely. Widowed in 1465 while in Paris, she set up a small but successful shop selling gloves and embroidered wares to the nobility.
