Lucian "Roy" de Basillon
Known to all as Roy, he joined the SCA in early 2018. Though he has close affiliations with the Shire of Anglespur, Roy is a proud Concordian. He takes the question of "which is mightier: the pen or the sword?" quite literally and studies both rapier and calligraphy.
Persona
An early 16th century Frenchman and the son of a Danish Viking, Roy enjoys being helpful when needed and running amok on the battlefields of Pennsic. His mother, young at the time and away in her travels saw it best to leave the young Roy in an English Monastery where he would grow and become educated. Both mother and son would often write letters to one another detailing their endeavors and to serve as inspiration for the young man during his studies. As Roy was raised by monks he would be taught not just the way of a scholar, but also the way of the blade and bow, so when he would eventually leave he could ensure his survival on his journey. He would later cross paths with a traveling Polish ambassador who would teach him the art of the Szabla, or sabre as it was commonly known. During his journeys Roy would often write letters to friend and family, detailing in great length the things he'd seen, places he'd been and people he met. He would dream whenever sailing the vast seas of his father, or an image of his father from tales he'd been told. Often he'd wonder if his father and clan would have approved of him, he was not strong like them but his wit and cunning made most look slow. He would travel north to discover his father buried, slain in a raid on the clan. Roy would stay in this distant land and learn of his father's people; his people. Tales were told, drinks were had and when it came time for the young man to travel once more he was gifted his fathers blade, a shield and the knowledge he had a clan to fight for. Returning to his Barony Roy began to teach all he had learned to any who would listen, whether it was the pen or the sword, though he much preferred to teach the later.
Roy has previously fallen in with varied crowds like the rough and tumble folk of House Bloodguard and the raucous but deadly people of the Stormguard Fencing Unit. His best friends have questionable employment as "Privateers" and sail under the flag of the Free Company of Stella Maris.
