Introduction

I'm a father to three sons, we live an hour north of Montreal in the Laurentians, the mountain range from which I defend the fair barony of Ile du Dragon Dormant. Travelled the globe as a musician doing the music thing in North America, Europe, and Africa as a classical musician, and I love to write songs. I fiddle and play some guitar, often at events for feast or before court.

I found the SCA by accident, and was happy to find friends already there. Through the years the friendship has become the thing I value the most. Lifelong friends are hard to find, and the SCA is a great place to find them.

What binds me to the SCA is the community I have found in the song of steel, with whom I enjoy a real camaraderie. Many of my best friends are found there, along with friendly competition that keeps us going. I've been an active fencer for about 20 years.

Some tourney results:
Sovereign's Champion of Fence, AS LX
Finalist, By the Book Tourney, Pennsic, AS LX

Persona

An Englishman, and a courtier in service to nobility in 1590, John was often found in Italy and the Lowlands. A friend to composers, especially William Byrd and Peter Philips, he was suspected to have Catholic leanings in Protestant England, which might explain why he was so frequently abroad. Found where the music is, he has been known to participate in exhibitions of rapier from time to time. He is proficient with voice, viol, fiddle, and lute.

Interests

I’m hoping to learn more about leather working, woodworking, fletching, and day to day skills of Renaissance England.
