Introduction
Lord Jayme Hume of Berwyk (he/him), formerly of Aethelmearc and Middle Kingdom, now resides in the Shire of Blak Rose in the Southern Region of the East Kingdom. Joined the SCA in Feb 1996, in the Barony of Blackstone Mountain.
Persona
My persona travels through time exactly 700 years prior to the current date and time in the mundane world.
Jayme Hume is the adopted son of John and Mhairead de Home. I was born on St Johns Day, June 24th, in the year of our Lord 1263, in Berwickshire. I was a merchant in 1296 and traveled to Edinburgh when Edward Longshanks sacked Berwick.
When Andrew Moray and William Wallace took up arms against the English, I joined the cause. I did some training with some of the Highland clans, and discovered I had an affinity for the short bow and claymore. I took part in the successful battle at Stirling Bridge, as well as the disaster that was Falkirk.
I traveled to Spain where my wife's family resided, in the hopes of recruiting mercenaries to fight for the Scottish cause. Proving unsuccessful, I stayed in Spain where I learned of the healing properties of various herbs and spices, and obtained a small shop where I grew and sold some of these for use medicinally.
I learned of King Robert de Bruce being named King of Scotland in 1306, and traveled back home to join his forces early winter, prior to the Battle at Glen Trool. I continued fighting for our good King Robert for 8 more years until our victory at Bannockburn, where I was badly wounded by an archer, a wound which I still suffer from to this day. I continued trying to charge the battlefields for my King, until he came by one day and told me to lay down my sword, my work was done.
Having helped secure the Kingdom, I moved my shop and plants to my native lands near Berwyk, where I could try my hand at healing those who had fought for our Kingdom's independence. I began working alongside some of the Cistercian monks at Melrose Abbey, for we had a common cause, and they were able to provide assistance. In 1320, I along with several of my Brothers were tasked with traveling to the Vatican, in an effort to lift King Robert's excommunication. I have made multiple trips, and am currently en route with Earl Thomas Randolph's party in the hopes he can finish the work we have started.
