If I Were a King
From EastKingdomWiki
If I were a King, and you, my Queen
I'd seat you at my side
And bards would sing and anthems ring
To the beauty of my bride
If I were a King, and you, my Queen
Our son could be a Prince
The Kingdom unfold with joy untold
As ne’er before nor since
And I would give you everything
They'd herald out your name
I'd sing your praises to the crowd
We'd never be the same
If I were a King, and you my Queen
We'd recognize them all
The great, the good, the kind, the bold
The artists who enthrall
But as the years went by, I feared
My sword it seemed so keen
But victory seemed so far and yet
For you, I still believed
Then one day as the springtime dawned
A light shone from above
They placed a crown upon our heads
My princess! Oh, my love!
If I were a King, and you, my Queen
The realm would gleam with light
And at the last, I'd catch your eye
No Queen e’er shone so bright
And once we’re not a King nor Queen
Nor Sovereign, nor Consort
I’ll always remember standing there
Two thrones, but just one heart
