Encranche of Bergental

An ecranche (also called a Targe) is a small shield used to protect the left armpit and provide a specific target when jousting. This one was created by Lady Robin Baillie, of two layers of veg tan leather, hand painted with acrylic leather paints. This is the mark of Bergental's Equestrian Champion and was first awarded at the Hastilude of the Autumnal Equinox, held by the Barony of Bergental in the territory of the Barony Beyond the Mountain.
