ORDO BITEMPORALIS IN CONCORDIA OF TINDAL & EMERSON 1. ABDICATIO
- lights dim, and come back*
TRM: It is clear that the eclipse is coming. The sun came back last time, but will that happen this time? It may be that this is merely the wolf licking at the sun, rather than eating it. But we cannot be sure. We should consult with the wisest of our populace. Call them forth, that we may hear their counsel.
Eastern Crown: Their Majesties would see the Tygers of the East.
Tygers enter and stand before the dais.
TRM: You have heard our conundrum. Do you have advice for us?
Tyger Speaker: As your own ascendance to the throne was heralded by an eclipse, you are right to carefully consider such a portent of change. It worked out very well for the Kingdom to elevate you to the throne at that time.
We have consulted Delphinian sources, and considered the doctrine of signatures. Our advice to you, beloved monarchs, is to provide the kingdom with a ruler who is like the sun. Such a resonance would ensure that the sun will return to our kingdom.
TRM: We do have such a prince, tested in combat and experienced in kingship. We can even see the resemblance, as you say.
We cannot prevent the eclipse, but we can do everything in our power to ensure that the sun returns after it. We are prepared even to put down these crowns and take up whatever tasks may be required, to avert Ragnarok in our time.
- lights dim longer, and come back*
TRM: It seems we should do so soon. Please, call in our heir.
Brigantia: Phoebos Tindal, Prince of Tir Mara, you are called before the Tyger Thrones to answer Their Majesties' question.
Tindal processes in, boasted by Audrye.
TRM: Are you prepared to lead this kingdom, as a beacon into the future?
Tindal: I have been preparing for this task for many months. But I know that I cannot achieve what you ask if I am alone. I have seen Prince Emerson serve the people of this kingdom for decades. His shining inspiration would continue to light the way forward.
TRM: We, too, have seen his steadfast service and his luminous presence. We agree.
Brigantia: Phanaeus Emerson, Prince of Tir Mara, you are called before the Tyger Thrones to answer Their Majesties' question.
Tygers make way for Emerson to join Tindal on the dais. Tygers depart.
TRM: Are you prepared to lead this kingdom, as a beacon into the future?
Emerson: I have traveled the length and breadth of this kingdom and beyond. I have seen where we have come from, and know in what direction we must proceed.
With Tindal's help, I am prepared to lead.
Tindal: With Emerson's help, I am prepared to lead.
TRM: Then it is decided.
2. ACCLAMATIO
HERALD: People of the East, here are Prince Magnus Tindal, who has guided this realm of the East with distinction in prosperity and adversity, and gained the praise of the patricians and plebeians alike, as well the approbation of the legions, and earned the right of civil and martial imperium; and Prince George Emerson True, who by his long and steadfast service and wise counsel has gained the honor even of a Tyger of the East. Wherefore, if it is your desire to subject yourselves to such princely rulers, to anchor their kingdom on your firm loyalty, and to obey the lawful orders of so eminent princes, then respond with “SO BE IT”?
PEOPLE: So be it! So be it!
3. PROMISSIO
STONE is presented to King Matthias and Queen AEsa Feilinn.
HERALD: Behold then, the Stone of Cloves, relic of that first Crown Tournament of the East, whereat Bruce of Cloves was victor and first King by Right of Arms of this Realm. It will permit no false vow to be sworn upon it. Wherefore, are you willing to take the Oath?
T&E: We are willing.
T&E place hands on Stone.
HERALD: Do you promise to serve as first defenders of the realm and highest executors of its laws and protectors of its ancient customs, and chiefest patrons of the arts, and will you preserve by just means the ideals of chivalry and honor? Will you guard the rights of the kingdom and the Royal office, and employ its properties for the good of the realm? Will you render the peers and baronage the honor and dignity you owe them, and preserve and protect the rights owned by all the people of the realm, of whatever station, high or low?
T&E: All these things we promise to do and keep.
Stone is removed.
4. IMPOSITIO CORONARUM
HERALD: Receive then, the crowns of the kingdom, and understand that they expressly signify the glory of virtue and honor and the task of courage. And through this, be not unmindful that all your people are partakers in your office, so that as you are understood to be the First Citizens of the realm, so are your subjects the indispensable pillars without which the edifice of the realm would surely fall as dust.
King Matthias removes Queen AEsa Feilinn’s crown, then his own. Matthias crowns Tindal. Tindal crowns Emerson, all speaking as they will during this ceremony.
Tindal and Emerson return the baronial coronets to Sir Mattias and Baroness AEsa Feilinn.
HERALD: For Sir Matthias and Baroness AEsa Feilinn, Vivat! Vivat! Vivat!
Matthias and AEsa Feilinn retire.
5. ACCIPE GLADIUM
Sovereign’s Champion of Arms comes before the thrones (kneels?) and presents the Sword of State, in its scabbard, to Tindal.
HERALD: Your Majesty, receive this sword, which is called Justice, sheathed in the scabbard called Mercy, dedicated to the defense of the realm, and presented by this your armored Champion. With this sword, exercise the force of equity and mightily destroy the growth of iniquity, defend and help widows and orphans, disheritours, and the discomined, restore the things that are gone to decay, and maintain the things that are restored; that doing these things you may be glorious in virtue and excellent in justice. May you ever draw Justice from Mercy.
TINDAL: I return this sword to your hand, that seeing it, the people will know that I will faithfully do all that I have promised.
Champion displays sword aloft (in sheath due to site restrictions) and then bears it for the remainder of the ceremony.
6. RELIQUARY
Consort’s Champion of Arms comes before the throne (kneels?) and presents the Reliquary of the First Tournament.
HERALD: Behold this reliquary, borne by your Champion of Arms, in which is held a portion of sacred earth from the field of the First Tournament, in the garden of Diana Listmaker. May it remind you of the worthy principles and joyful traditions which we hold dear.
Emerson receives the reliquary, holds it out to display it, and hands it back to his Champion.
EMERSON: I return this relic to your hands, that seeing it, the people will know that our cherished principles and traditions will be preserved and protected.
Champion lifts Reliquary to display it, and holds it for the remainder of the ceremony.
7. UNCTIO
TRM stand, facing the thrones, and remove their crowns. The water reliquary is brought out and held up, then (placed on the stone’s plinth? Held by someone?). Spoon & vial are also present.
HERALD: Upon a day in Spring, in the ancient Mistlands, the elders of legend contended, that the bravest and the wisest might lead them. By this unction of water from the Bay of the Mists, whereat the world was born, be reminded of those noble persons who have come before you, and by your acts deserve to be included in their esteemed company.
Unction is performed. Reliquary and items are removed.
8. STA ET RETINE
Thomas of Effingham comes forward before the dais.
SENESCHAL: Stand and retain now the state which you hold by lawful succession, and by this our present delivery, that is, of all the officers and the people of the realm of the East, and inasmuch as you have beheld the peers and baronage nearer the royal thrones, so much remember to afford them due honor in suitable places; so may you be confirmed the mediators of the nobility and the common people on the throne of your kingdom.
9. IN DIEBUS ORIATUR
HERALD: May there arise in these coming days equity and justice for all, help for friends, hindrance for enemies, solace for the humble, correction for the pretentious, instruction for the arrogant, comfort for the weary, intercession for the beleaguered, peace and security for those at home. Governing all moderately, in accordance with their measure; may you sedulously know yourselves, that, watered by your principles, you might provide a forthright example to the whole people in walking the path of leadership.
10. CHARGING OF THE CAPTAIN OF THE CONSORT’S GUARD
Tindal asks Emerson, now that he is King Consort, does he have a guard assembled? Emerson replies that he has a trustworthy companion who can assemble a suitable company, and asks for him to be called forward.
HERALD: Lord Aelfwyne, you are called before the Tyger Throne.
AElfwyne comes forward (kneels?)
Emerson asks him to assemble those who will guard his person as long as should be necessary. AElfwyne agrees.
AElfwyne departs.
11. HOMAGE OF THE GREAT OFFICERS
HERALD: Let the honored Great Officers of the East now approach, that they may be confirmed in their several offices in the Court of TINDAL REX and EMERSON REX CONSORS, their undoubted monarchs here present.

RESPONSE: We will.
14. HOMAGE OF THE PEOPLE
HERALD: People of the East, arise! I here present you Tindal and Emerson, your undoubted monarchs, Wherefore all you who have come this day to do your homage before them, are you willing to do the same?
RESPONSE. We will!
15. CONCLUSION

Champions process out with them.
