Coronation Script

Coronation of Matthew and Fiamuin

TRH Vox steps into the room, at the back, only a few feet

TRH VOX: Here comes Prince Matthew des Arden, undisputed Heir to the Crown of the East.

Here comes Princess Fiamuin Kareman, undisputed Heir to the Crown of the East. She is escorted by her son Galen, scion of Matthew and Fiamuin.

All 3 walk to the table in the center of the room. No Heir’s Crowns. Tindal and Emerson remain seated.

MATTHEW: Your Majesties, has your business been concluded?

TINDAL: Yes. [They can insert any words they wish.]

MATTHEW : Your Majesties, I stand here before you to claim my birthright with my wife Fiamuin and my son Galen by my side.

FIAMUIN: Your Majesties, we appear before you alone, unguarded, trusting in you and your word. Will you honor the people and the spirits of this Land and pass this burden from your shoulders?

EMERSON : [Your Majesty, it has been the greatest honor to rule alongside you. But it is time that I retire to my country estate to plan my travels far and wide to shop among the best markets in the land.]

TINDAL : [It is time that I take my leave and travel the Roman roads to their end and explore the world.]

TRM: As our last act, we call upon the BRIGANTIAantia Herald, who by right of office should perform this ceremony.

Tindal and Emerson stand and walk down the steps of the stage towards the table.

Brigantia comes in from the back and follows T&E to the table.

CROWNS

BRIGANTIA: King Tindal and King Consort Emerson, as your predecessors have done before, you must give your oath in this court. Behold the Stone of Cloves, relic of the first Crown Tournament of East, in which Bruce of Cloves was victor and first King by Right of Arms of this Realm. It bears the memory of all the years of this kingdom, and will permit no false oaths to be made upon it.

Place your hands upon it now.

Tindal and Emerson place their hands on the stone

BRIGANTIA: Do you aver that Matthew has proven himself not only upon the tournament field, but upon every field to which he has come this year?

T&E: We do.

BRIGANTIA: Do you aver that Fiamuin has proven the depth and breadth of her service to this kingdom?

T&E: We do.

BRIGANTIA: Do you concur that they carry the potential to rule this land with clarity and compassion?

T&E: We do.

Tindal and Emerson remove their hands from the stone

BRIGANTIA: Then let your heirs be questioned as to whether they wish to justly rule and defend the baronies, provinces, shires, cantons, ridings, and principalities, and the whole people subjected to them with royal providence in accordance with the custom of their predecessors.

Matthew and Fiamuin place their hands on the stone

BRIGANTIA : Matthew & Fiamuin, will you promise to be good stewards to the kingdom, and to hold what is best for the populace first and foremost?

M&F: We will.

BRIGANTIA : Will you promise to treat each of your subjects with equity and compassion?

M&F: We will.

BRIGANTIA : Will you promise to fight for and protect the kingdom and the Society from all threats?

M&F: We will.

Matthew and Fiamuin remove their hands from the stone, and the stone is removed

BRIGANTIA: These promises have been made in full witness of the assembled worthies. By right and tradition, they are ready to receive the crowns of the East. Your Majesties, you may now safely lay down the responsibilities of your station, and place upon Your Heirs the mantle of authority.

Tindal places the Sword of State on the table

Matthew and Fiamuin stand or kneel in front of Tindal and Emerson.

Tindal and Emerson remove their Crowns and hold them while M&F move in front of them. They will exchange their Crowns for the Imperial Crowns at this time.

BRIGANTIA: Know that these crowns are a clear sign of the precious burden you carry, and the work of fortitude you undertake. Do not be unaware that through them, the power of the people is made manifest by their agreement to believe in your worthiness to lead.

Simultaneously Tindal will place the Crown on Matthew, and Emerson will place the Crown on Fiamuin. Once crowned, Matthew and Fiamuin stand.

Tindal picks up the Sword of State from the table and presents it to Matthew

FIAMUIN: You have led this kingdom with fortitude, ferocity, and fidelity, time and again.

MATTHEW: We will call you soon, to again take up the responsibilities of your ducal and county estates, but for now, please take your well-earned rest.

Tindal and Emerson depart down the aisle and through the doors.

BRIGANTIA: For the prosperous and peaceful reign of Tindal and Emerson! (Vivats)

As Tindal and Emerson leave, Matthew and Fiamuin turn and stand on the sides of the table, facing one another.

RELICS

BRIGANTIA: The stone has accepted your oath, but you must now further bind yourselves to the principles of the Kingdom and the Society in which we live.

Matthew passes the Sword of State to Galen, possibly with a statement or not

Brigantia lifts the water ampule from the tables

BRIGANTIA: Behold the water from the Bay of the Mists, where the Society began fifty-nine years ago. The tides are cyclical, bringing water and salt, rain and storms, both essential and perilous. Water has the same composition everywhere in the universe, and is a cornerstone of life here, yet it changes with temperature and time.

You won the right to become heirs, but that is not sufficient to truly rule a kingdom. Do you give your oath that you will work in partnership with the populace, earn and keep their trust, and bring together those necessary constituents to achieve your aims?

M&F: We give our oath.

Brigantia replaces the water ampule amd lifts the reliquary with earth from the tables

BRIGANTIA: Behold the vessel of earth from the first tournament grounds, where the royal lineage was begun. Earth is our constant support, accessible to all. By its contours, we define our location, and know where we stand. From its heights, we see vistas; in its valleys, we shelter. Though we draw imaginary lines upon it, we are all connected by its continuity.

A kingdom is defined by its borders, but that is not sufficient to truly define a kingdom. Do you give your oath that you will value the worth of people, regardless of place, and celebrate and promote those things which connect all who consider themselves to be Easterners, rather than creating divisions.

M&F: We give our oath.

BRIGANTIA: People of the East, as witnesses to their words and acknowledgement of tradition, do you accept the oaths of your King and Queen. If so, respond with “Yes”

Populace: Yes

BRIGANTIA: For King MATTHEW and Queen FIAMUIN, the new Crowns of the East! (Vivants)

Matthew and Fiamuin walk to the stage, ascend the stairs, and stands before the thrones. Galen follows with the Sword of State and stands behind the thrones. Brigantia follows them and ascends the stairs to the stage, standing behind the thrones. Assistant clears away the tables

GREATER OFFICERS

BRIGANTIA: Let the honored Great Officers of the East now approach and stand before us, that they may be confirmed in their several offices in the Court of MATTHEW REX and FIAMUIN REGINA, their undoubted monarchs here present.

Greater Officers come forward, but do not ascend to the stage.

BRIGANTIA: Do you affirm that you will continue to perform your duties diligently and will honorably execute the lawful commands of the Tyger Crown, as you have heretofore so nobly done?

Officers: <Each singly> I , [Name], [Office], so affirm.

The Officers return to their seats.

RUNNEYMEADE

BRIGANTIA: Let their Excellencies, the Right Loyal Barons and Baronesses of their Majesties’ several baronies, come and stand before us and promise faithfully to hold their lands and see to the prosperity of their people in the name of Matthew and Fiamuin, here present, their undoubted monarchs.

Runneymeade comes forward, but does not ascend the stage.

<Internal call & response> The coronets respond “I, [Name], Baron/ess (or Vicereina) of [Group] so affirm.”

Runneymeade returns to their seats.

TYGERS OF THE EAST

BRIGANTIA: Let the Tygers of the East come and stand before us.

Tygers come forward, but do not ascend the stage.

Will you offer the counsel of your experience unto these your undoubted monarchs, as to their predecessors you have heretofore so nobly done, that their reign may be crowned with wisdom, and that the names of Matthew and Fiamuin may stand honored in the rolls of monarchs?

Tygers: We will.

Tygers return to their seats.

PEERS & POPULACE

BRIGANTIA: Let the peers now make their affirmations, with each peerage rising in place when called and answering with “We will”

BRIGANTIA: Sir Knights and Masters of Arms, will you serve and honor the ideals of Chivalry, standing with steadfast courage as exemplars of all chivalric virtue, as you have heretofore so nobly and bravely done, that the realm, in safety, may ever embody its highest principles?

Chivalry: We will.

BRIGANTIA: Companions of the Laurel, will you serve and honor the inspiration of the Muses, bringing beauty and wisdom to the Realm as you have heretofore so nobly done, that the realm may shine ever more BRIGANTIAhtly as a beacon among the kingdoms?

Laurels: We will.

BRIGANTIA: Companions of the Pelican, will you serve and maintain the good order of the Realm, as you have heretofore so nobly done, that the realm and its people may thrive in peace and prosperity?

Pelicans: We will.

BRIGANTIA: Masters of Defense, will you serve and honor the ideals of your Order with perseverance, tenacity, and constancy, as you have heretofore so nobly done, that the realm may be well and securely defended?

MOD’s: We will.

BRIGANTIA: Companions of the Rose, will you serve and encourage chivalrous and courteous behavior, as you have heretofore so nobly done, that the realm may be held in high regard and welcomed throughout all of our Society?

Roses: We will.

BRIGANTIA: People of the East, arise! I here present you Matthew and Fiamuin, your undoubted monarchs, Wherefore all you who have come this day to do your homage before them, are you willing to do the same?

Populace: We will!

CONCLUSION

BRIGANTIA: The ceremony is complete and the future of the kingdom is secure. Let the Kingdom rejoice and .

Galen steps forward to be the point person for the kids to gather around.

Their Majesties call forth the children of the East to escort them to the feast hall, that this reign may begin with joy and enthusiasm.

BRIGANTIA: Long live the King! Long live the Queen! Long live the Kingdom of the East!

Matthew and Fiamuin descend the stairs, walking out hand in hand, with the children of the East following them.
