Suggested response for all fealties: We, Luis and Margarita, Rey & Reina of the East, hear and accept your words. We, in turn, will protect and defend you and yours. We will not make war or peace, but to protect and maintain you, without consulting those whom we have sworn to defend, whose counsel we have need of to best serve the Kingdom as the Crown, for all the good things to come.
Coronation Script
The Coronation of Margarita and Luis
Ozzur and Fortune are doing their last bits, when they are suddenly interrupted by Prince Luis. (We will work out a good interrupt point with O&F) Musical fanfare, and Luis and his guys, in armor, come marching in to a musical accompaniment. They present a scroll of deeds to Malcolm Malcolm: “His Highness Luis has been on a Mighty Quest, an Expedition across the Known World. He has traveled far and wide, fought many a battle in the name of the East. He has crusaded through the Kingdom of the West, crossed the tall mountains of the Kingdom of the Outlands, flown over the Kingdom of Calontir, rolled across the Kingdom of the Middle, fought with honor and valor in the Kingdom of Aethelmearc at the Pennsic War, and at long last has made his way home. He has quested far and wide to discover a lost artifact to prove that he has the right to ascend the throne. He comes before you because, in these lands at the far corner of your Kingdom, he believes he has found it.” Luis: “I have long heard rumor of this artifact, and and after searched high and low, I have found it. Herald, please call the bearer of the artifact.” Malcolm: “His Highness would call forth Ruslan Novgorodcev.” Ruslan comes forward, holding out the Orb. Ruslan: “Your Majesties, it is my honor to present the long lost artifact that Prince was questing for. This orb has been long lost, but its history is unique. It was passed to me, by the last Unbelted King, Your Majesties. The finding of this artifact, your Majesties, I believe proves his Highnesses claim.” Fortune: “We had heard rumor that this artifact existed, but did not believe it would be found. The Prince’s crusade has indeed been fruitful. Would you agree, Your Majesty?” Ozurr: “In front of these witnesses present, I see that the orb has been returned. I would agree that this, Prince Luis, validates your claim.” Luis takes the orb from Ruslan, and bows before the Crown. “Thank you, Your Majesties.” Luis’ escort and Ruslan depart. Luis is assisted in removing his armor off to the side (maybe). Fortune releases her guard. Ozurr and Fortune will say a few words. They remove their crowns, which they both will hold. Ozurr invites Luis to take a knee before him. Luis will be kneeling in front of TRM Ozurr: “Luis de Castille, Prince of Tir Mara and our Heir. You have found the artifact that proves your right to the Crown. Our time to reign as the Crown of the East has come to an end. Will you serve the Kingdom of the East, and take up the Crown and reign as its King?” Luis: “I will.” Ozurr: “Thus do we welcome you home from your crusade, and name you King.” Ozurr removes the Prince’s coronet, and crowns Luis with the King’s crown. Brigantia: “Long Live the King!” The Populace will repeat “Long Live the King!” Luis stands. Fortune says: “You Majesty, it is the custom and tradition of the Kingdom of the East that you cannot reign alone. Will you call forth your Consort, and crown her Queen?” Luis: “I will.” Fortune presents her crown to Luis. Brigantia: “His Majesty would welcome the Princess of Tir Mara into court.” Margarita will make her way into court with music and whatever escort she chooses. Margarita kneels in front of Luis. Luis says some pretty words to Margarita Luis: “Margarita de Sienna, Princess of Tir Mara and the East. You are my light and my inspiration. By your song and smile I won Crown Tournament. I could not take my crusade across the Kingdom and the Knowne World without you. Will you serve the Kingdom of the East, and take up the Crown and reign by my side as its Queen?” Margarita: “I will.” Luis removes the Princess coronet, and crowns Margarita with the Queen’s crown. Brigantia: “Long Live the Queen!” The Populace will repeat “Long Live the Queen!” Margarita stands. Luis or Margarita: “Ozzur the Boot Giver and Fortune St. Keyne, would you bear witness to this traditional ceremony to complete our coronation?” Ozzur and Fortune: Improvised Response Brigantia takes up the dirt from the first list field. Brigantia: “Your Majesties. In this reliquary is a portion of the Earth from which the first Crown Tournament was held. Would you place your hands upon the reliquary?” Brigantia: “This may appear to be just a reliquary filled with dirt. But this soil is from the grounds where the very first tournament in the SCA was held. Please place your hands atop the reliquary. Will you swear upon this hallowed earth that you will lead the Kingdom of the East justly, with honor before glory, in peace or in war?” Luis and Margarita: “We will.” Brigantia takes up the ampule of water. Brigantia: “Your Majesties. This is an unction of water from The Bay of the Mistlands, from which the society originated. Like those who have gone before you, would you please kneel, and be anointed by the waters?” Luis and Margarita kneel. Brigantia comes around the thrones, and pantomimes the anointing. Brigantia returns behind the thrones. Luis and Margarita stand and face the Populace. Brigantia: “People of the East, I present to you Rey Luis, and Reina Margarita. Long Live the King!” The Populace repeats that. Brigantia: “Long live the Queen!” The Populace repeats that. Brigantia: ”Long live the East!” The Populace repeats that. Luis and Margarita are seated. Luis and/or Margarita address Ozurr and Fortune. “Your Excellencies, you leave behind a Kingdom grateful for all of your love and hard work. We are grateful for all of your guidance during our time as Prince and Princess. Thank you. Before you depart, we would request a moment of your time. Brigantia: “Their Majesties would see Ozurr the Bootgiver and Fortune St. Keyne before them.” Ozurr and Fortune kneel before the new King and Queen. Their county scrolls are read. Brigantia: “For Count Ozurr and Countess Fortune!” Vivants follow. Brigantia: “Their Majesties invite into their court the Companions of the Order of the Rose!” The Rose ceremony occurs. Brigantia: “For the newest Companion of the Order of the Rose, Countess Fortune!” Vivants follow. Luis: “Sorry, Ozurr, that we have nothing more to present you. Or…perhaps we could do something.” Brigantia: “Their Majesties would see before them Their Order of the Chivalry.” The Chivalry enter court. Words happen between Luis & Margarita and Ozurr. Brigantia: “For Count Ozzur and the Question before him!” The Populace Vivants. Brigantia: “Their Majesties call before them their Greater Officers of State in attendance today.” The Greater officers come forward. Each will swear in individual oath of fealty. Webminister office will changeover, after that L&M will give their response to all (rather than having to do this 4 or 5 times).
Luis and Margarita respond: Thank you for your Oath of Service.
Brigantia: “For the greater officers of state, and the service they do for the Kingdom!”
The Populace vivants.
Brigantia: “Their Majesties call before them the Kingdom Seneschal”
Katherine comes forward, says something about her time as Seneschal being through. She (or Bringantia) calls in Medbh.
You take Mistress Medbh’s oath of fealty, and repeat yours to her.
Brigantia: “For the outgoing and incoming Kingdom Seneshal!”
Brigantia: “Their Majesties call before them the Viceroy and Vicerine of Ostgardr, and the landed Barons and Baronesses of the East.
Runnymede comes forward. They swear a mass oath:
I, *insert name here*, in the name of the Crown of the East, who hold these lands for you,
swear to you, who are in this capacity no better than us, to accept you as our King and Queen,
provided you observe all our liberties and laws.
L&M Response: We, Luis and Margarita, Rey & Reina of the East, accept the fealty of our barons and baronesses, to protect and defend them and the people of their lands. We will not make war or peace, except by the counsel of our noble landed baronage, whose counsel we have need of to best serve the Kingdom to be to the Crown, for all the good things to come.*
Brigantia: “For their Excellencies, and the service they do in the name of the crown!”
The Populace vivants.
Luis and Margarita say a few words to the Populace
Brigantia: “There being no further business, herein closes the Coronation Court of their Majesties, Luis and Margarita. Long live the King!”
The Populace repeats that.
Brigantia: “Long live the Queen!”
The Populace repeats that.
Brigantia: “Long live the East!”
The Populace repeats that.
Their Majesties leave the dais and the Roll of Kings is chanted.
