Introduction
I'm Lady Arsione Dragonette. So…… this is a Wiki page…… It’s a rather uncomfortable place for an introvert to be. But since it was “strongly recommended” that I create one, here goes. I discovered the SCA quite a while ago when Buckland Cross, then a Shire, was doing a demonstration at a local renaissance fair. Being the history nut that I am, I found the range of time period intriguing. Before this I dabbled in other time periods as a reenactor, spreading myself between French & Indian War, Revolutionary War, Napoleonic, American Civil War, 1880’s, 1890’s and whatever else afforded a vehicle to learn by doing rather than through study alone. The SCA was just a natural direction to go.
Persona
It will be a long time before I settle into a persona. There is just too much to explore and learn to narrow my scope at the moment. Coming from the reenacting world (which severely limits your exploration to a few years of one culture) to the Known World (where the possibilities are endless) makes me feel like a kid in a candy shop! I try to dress for the theme of the event I am going to. When in Rome, do as the Romans do (or in Germany, Angelo Saxon Britain, Birka, etc). My current areas of interest lie in the Heian period of Japan and Russia. Anyone have a Tardis I could borrow?
Working at Events
My personal philosophy is to help when needed and to fill in when no one else can be found for the job, which can be very scary if you do not know what you are doing! I am usually one of those who labor in the background, washing dishes in the kitchen or sitting at troll, although I have stepped up to plan and execute dayboard when no one else could be found. I’ll do it because it needs to be done and I don’t think to keep track of events that I’ve helped at.
