We have always fought
We have killed and died on the field
On horse, with blade, with bow and glaive
We have always fought
Oft times some soul will say to me
It is nature's work at play
You girls are weak, you flinch at blood
To the kitchens you should stay
To them I say, "Blow it out your ass,
No one knows my place but I!
And I've seen more blood as the moons pass by
Than you've seen in your whole damn life."
We have always fought
We have killed and died on the field
Alone and free or in company
We have always fought
Through many times in history
A heroine stands tall
Rulers, queens, and warleaders
Who bring their foes to fall
From Boudicca to Khutulun
To Amina and Zhu Shi
Our past is made by women's work
And our pride in her story
We have always fought
We have killed and died on the field
On seas, on lands, with our own bare hands
We have always fought
When you hear these names and accomplishments
It is easy but to say
These are heroes rare and few
It is not all woman's way
Remember who gives birth to whom
And be not nature's fool
Any spark can light a hero's fire
The exceptions prove the rule
We have always fought
We have killed and died on the field
On horse, with blade, with bow and glaive
We have always fought
(Repeat, end.)
