Persona

Davíd Poirier was born in 1421 into a small manor house named Jardin d’Hiver outside of Poitier, France. He was a third son and his father had him tutored to prepare him to join the church. He was skilled as a scribe and artist.

At times he would sneak away from his home and spend time among the trees assisting the foresters and learning archery and to hunt, trap and how to find edible and medicinal plants. At other times his fathers Man at arms would find him in the taverns and inns of Poitier listening to the stories of the travelers and merchants.

His favorite were of the Brave Maiden Joan, who just a few years earlier had been questioned and joined the Dauphin in the very same city. News came through on a regular basis about her many victories against the English and she became an unlikely hero to him.

A few years later news would come that she had been burned at the stake, condemned by the the very church that he was to enter into for the rest of his life. He immediately returned home and made a refusal to his father and later that week when it became clear his mind could not be changed his father disinherited him.

Alone at the age of fifteen, he made his way back into Poitier where he was taken in by a successful merchant that recognized his education as useful skills. Over the next seven years he traveled the Wine Dark Sea stoping in places like Athens, Malta, Cypress and Alexandria. It was while out at sea that his ship mates taught him new skills including how to fight with thin sharp blades.

Years later he returned to Poitier, somewhat wealthier and happier. He returned to his family only to find his family members missing and his childhood home burned. It was a bitter time and with nothing left to him in France he looked again to journeying with merchants.

This trip would take a different path as refugees began to make their way inland with reports of Plague along the port cities. Though it was late fall it was decided that the best path would be through the mountains into The Holy Roman Empire.

While making their way through the mountainous paths a storm blew in and Davíd was separated from the rest of his caravan. It took him a week to make his way to the nearest village where he was reunited with his fellows explaining that a giant starved wolf had lead him there.

Most thought he was imagining things in his illness from exposure but some of his fellow travelers that hailed from the North told him stories of long abandoned Viking gods and took to calling him Davíd of the Wolf.

Later he would part ways with his comrades having decided to return home and find his family, he boarded a ship bound for France. Again misfortune would gaze upon him as a storm would leave him shipwrecked in Scotland.

After a short recovery he made his way south. Later he would learn that war had broken out across England and it was not a good place for a Frenchman to be. He was found by Kat Spoon-breaker and was brought to the Stella Maris to be secreted out of the country.

Having no place to return to he made the decision to stay on with the crew till this day.
