Introduction

Heavy Weapons Champions of the East Kingdom. Traditionally, the Sovereign's Champion of Arms is the winner of the heavy weapons tournament, while the Consort's Champion is selected by the Consort.

According to East Kingdom Law, the Sovereign's Champion of Arms has the right to bear the East Kingdom war standard into battle. The Sovereign's Champion of Arms may, with the approval of the Sovereign, cede his duty to attend the Sovereign in court for the day to a gentle whose chivalry and skill has distinguished him in the eyes of the Champion. A gentle so honored will have the right to bear the regalia of the Sovereign's Champion for the day. [1]

Upon stepping down, the former Sovereign's Champion of Arms is entitled to bear a White Garter embossed in gold with the motto of the Sovereign's Champion of Arms - Justitia Virtutum Regina. This garter is to be presented by the previous year's Champion if possible. [2]

These positions were formerly known as King's and Queen's Champions of Arms
