Absolutely had the honor to paint a Baronial scroll for Ryutsume no Kazoku Ishioka Tora no Botsume (called Ichi). Words and translation by Ryouko'jin of the Iron-skies. Painting based on a piece from the Ming Dynasty. Super fun to do! I absolutely loved this one. Someday I'll learn how to do the calligraphy better, but I was super happy with this.

Words:
"Life is waking dreams
Sustained by those who believe
Hands that Hold us Up
Like the dressing of a stage
Beauty in kindness
The right tools for deeds, always
Where there is Tumult
His is the breath that brings calm
Where there is despair
His, the smile to bring comfort
When Burned by the Sun
He is there to Offer shade
Samurai Servant
Duties Filled, Honors Given
Gentle, Friend, Helper, Baron"

Shoshana Gryffyth's Portfolio of Recent Work

Introduction

2/24/20 - Page created. Please check back in a week for updates.

Court Barony- Laurena

  • Given out on 2/22/20 at the Crown's Bardic Competition: Based on a piece from the The Spinola Book of Hours, produced in Flanders between around 1510 and 1520 by a number of artists of the Ghent-Bruges School.
  • Done in gouache and shell gold with pelican ink on perg.
  • Of note: The illumination really shines due to the ocher paint, which was applied first, then the Shell/Windsor Newton gold mix was then painted on top. This creates a wonderfully smooth look.

Side Panels for Triptych

  • Laurel scroll-triptych completed and presented in court, AS LIV, Queen's and Crown's Bardic.
  • Original side panels conceived by the amazing Paul Butler (Arden of Icomb), words by Katy Ysmay Lynn (Ysmay de Lynn), and the masterpiece of a central portrait by Rick Wolff (Reijnier Verplanck) Side panels painted by Shoshana Gryffyth
