Introduction

2/24/20 - Page created. Please check back in a week for updates.

Court Barony- Laurena

  • Given out on 2/22/20 at the Crown's Bardic Competition: Based on a piece from the The Spinola Book of Hours, produced in Flanders between around 1510 and 1520 by a number of artists of the Ghent-Bruges School.
  • Done in gouache and shell gold with pelican ink on perg.
  • Of note: The illumination really shines due to the ocher paint, which was applied first, then the Shell/Windsor Newton gold mix was then painted on top. This creates a wonderfully smooth look.

Side Panels for Triptych

  • Laurel scroll-triptych completed and presented in court, AS LIV, Queen's and Crown's Bardic.
  • Original side panels conceived by the amazing Paul Butler (Arden of Icomb), words by Katy Ysmay Lynn (Ysmay de Lynn), and the masterpiece of a central portrait by Rick Wolff (Reijnier Verplanck) Side panels painted by Shoshana Gryffyth

Silver Tyger- Philippe de Brouse

  • Silver Tyger Illumination awarded to Philippe de Brouse based on a French Illuminated Manuscript Leaf, ca.15th Century, From a Book of Hours, shell gold, W/N gouache, perg, red ink.
