Scolastica la souriete has been active in the SCA since 1983. She spent her first 14 years in the Society in Trimaris, then moved to the shire of Hartshorn-Dale in East Kingdom. During that 30-odd years of activity she used many names including Triste More, Triste Katharine More, Triste Cateline de la Mor, Cateline de la Mor, Cateline de la Mor la souriete, Cateline la souriete and finally Scolastica la souriete. Over the years, she has published articles in SCA publications under most of these names.

Introduction

Scolastica la souriete (O.L.) has been active in the SCA since 1983. She spent her first 14 years in the Society in Trimaris, then moved to the shire of Hartshorn-Dale in East Kingdom. During that 40-odd years of activity she used many names including Triste More, Triste Katharine More, Triste Cateline de la Mor, Cateline de la Mor, Cateline de la Mor la souriete, Cateline la souriete and finally Scolastica la souriete. Over the years, she has published articles in SCA publications under most of these names.

She ran the Thirteenth Century Garb list when Yahoo Groups still existed. Oddly enough, Scolastica hates to sew; she just ran the group so that she could pick people's brains and share her own research on 13th century clothing.

Scolastica has been studying medieval and Renaissance naming practices since before 1989. She has been a member of the College of Arms in the past and is currently an active commenter for the College of Arms.

In the past, Scolastica has studied embroidery, particularly Opus Anglicanum, intensively, but has discovered that she does not have the patience to execute it.

Scolastica's current favorite SCA pastime is spinning and studying medieval spinning and spinning tools. What started as a quick pickup craft for demos has turned into a positive obsession.

Persona

Scolastica la souriete is a devout Anglo-Norman woman who lives in northern England in the very early 13th century and is married to John fitzArnulf de Lithia. Being a well-behaved woman, she did not make history.

Offices & Positions

In her 40 years in the Society, Scolastica has held a few local offices in Trimaris and East Kingdom. The only kingdom office she has ever held is Ensign Herald in Trimaris, which at the time was for name commentary on the College of Arms.
