Introduction
Lady Ruth Baraskaya.
I joined the SCA back in the mid to late 70's while in college. I had helped a roommate haul video equipment so she could film some fighting in the student union. This was part of Ice Dragon. It was pre-internet days so I could not later find the group. The next year I saw people from some of my classes come into the computer lab wearing "funny-looking" clothes. So I then found the local SCA group on campus.
I started with the then shire of the Rhyderrich Hael, which later became a barony. Back when I lived there, it was still part of the East Kingdom. I was their Minister of Arts (MOA). I have a Russian name, but no Russian clothes or actual personna.I moved in 1992 to the Barony of Concordia of the Snows, where I have worked gate, worked in kitchens, sung with the choir, played with the instrumental group, and helped form a local group of the Keepers of Athena's Thimble.
Persona
Describe your persona and persona history (as much as you wish)
I decided on a Russian name, since most of my family came from some part of Russia. I was 18 or 19 at the time. I later found in Costume books what the garb might have looked like. I opted to stick with chemises, skirts and bodices for the time.
On a funny note, when developing my arms, I decided I wanted a Swan. I wanted it sitting on water, at night, with 1 silver crescent moon. I was told that it was to close to a real Russian coat of arms and needed 3 points of difference. That is how I would up with 3 gold crescent moons instead,
