Persona

Rosina von Schaffhausen is a 15th century woman living near the German/Swiss border who makes cord and trim in conjunction with her family's weaving business.

Offices & Awards

In the SCA, Rosina is the herald for the Shire of Quintavia and the Guildmistress of the Worshipful Company of Narrowworkers of the East Kingdom. In addition to receiving her Award of Arms, Rosina has also been inducted into the Order of the Maunche, and Carolingia's polling orders for service (Daystar) and the arts and sciences (Moon). She was the Keeper of the Flame (service) of Quintavia along with her lord, Andreiko Eferiev, and the Keeper of the Chalice (arts). Rosina served for several years as Chatelaine of Carolingia

Rosina was the coordinator for HRH Thyra's Princess favors, and has also served as lady in waiting for the reigns of Konrad I and Brenwen I, Darius IV and Alethea, Edward I and Marguerite, and Edward II and Thyra.

Activities

Rosina's favorite things to do in the SCA are teaching and taking classes. Rosina has taught a number of classes on the history of mathematics in period. Four of these classes are based on Fibonacci's 1202 book Liber Abaci, on arithmetic, extracting roots, and algebra. Another class is on Fibonacci's Book of Squares. She has also taught a class on 3-D geometry in Renaissance art and science, as well as a class on applying modern classification techniques to period narrowwork designs. Rosina has also taught a number of classes on fingerloop braiding at the basic, intermediate and advanced levels. She has taught several multiperson fingerloop braiding classes with her lord, Andreiko Eferiev. Rosina has also taught a class on kumihimo.

In addition to teaching and taking classes, Rosina enjoys running setup for events, dancing, singing, playing instruments including guitar, recorder and drums, thrown weapons, archery, and embroidery. She has also served as the Chatelaine and Gold Key of the Barony of Carolingia, and has retained for Brenwen I, Alethea, and Marguerite.

Victoria Sapko lives in east central Massachusetts with her husband and two cats in the best neighborhood on the planet. She has a Ph.D. in mathematics, and is a former mathematics college professor now working for a textbook publisher. Besides her activities in the SCA, Victoria also enjoys reading, playing board, card and role-playing games, volleyball, and swimming
