== Introduction ==

Rolland is a Squire to Master [[Padraig Dubh MacEanruig]] and a Yeoman (archery student) to Master [[Li Kung Lo]]. He and his wife, Lady [[Kira Asahi]], are members of the [[Freehold of the Riverkeep]]. Rolland is an archer, an armored fighter, and a combat archer.

He was formerly a squire to [[Tanaka Raiko]] and was also known as Ian (or Iohn) of the Rusted Woodlands.  Was a member of Full Circle.  Supported events in both the Southern Region and in the Central Region (north).  Served multiple Eastern royal households at Pennsic.

His children, Anna of Riverkeep (Age 12), Gavin of Riverkeep (Age 10) and Sara of Riverkeep (Age 8) are all active, participating in archery, youth combat and thrown weapons.  Anna is an up and coming artist.  Sara is a starting cook.

== Persona ==

Rolland Ian MacPherson is a viking getting used to  the idea that he is living in what is now Scotland.  His father was from Norway and a teacher, follower and preacher of the old religion.  After settling in Scotland after a raid and taking a Scottish wife, the family has been raised in viking traditions on one of the last isles in the Orkneys under Norse control.  In 1150, taxes were deemed payable to the Scottish king and this has Rolland under constant consideration of abandoning his home and heading for his ancestral homelands.

His adopted name is Mac a'Phearsin (Macpherson) which translated is the "son of a parson (or vicar)"  This started as a way to introduce him to Scottish mainlanders and is a reference to Rolland's father who reveled in the old stories of the gods.

Rolland's device and shield were awarded to him by Scottish king for participation in local contests and tournaments...
