Introduction

Kieran MacLeod called Krey, late 12 Century Scotsman, Shire of Caer Adamant, AoA

Persona

Krey was actually born as a Moor. During one of the Crusades, his birth family was lost. Tired and hungry, the small Krey stumbled upon a caravan of soldiers heading back to Europe. Finding food, Krey gorged himself and soon fell asleep. He was discovered by the soldiers who, believing him to be a spy, was to be put to death, but one brave man, Lord Allistar MacLeod, stepped forward and protected the hungry child. Well respected amongst his fellow soldiers, Lord Allistar was able to keep the boy safe. Upon returning to his lands on the Isle of Lewis in Scotland's Outer Hebredies, Lord Allistar took the boy home to his wife, Kate and they raised him as their own son. While attempting to teach him their language and ways, he was given the proper name of Kieran, which mean 'little dark skinned warrior'. Because of his age, the best he could come out with was 'Krey' so the name stuck. Over the years, he grew to be a fine man, a hard worker, an excellent marksman, and a skilled warrior in his own right. Krey was the first child to the MacLeod's but certainly not the last. After his arrival, several brothers and sisters were had: Liam, William, Malcolm, Morgaine, Katherine, Keelie and an adopted daughter, Grainne.

Tragedy soon befell the MacLeod clan, as Lord Allistar one day, disappeared. They searched high and low for him but could not locate his whereabouts. Being the oldest, this made Krey head of household and brought the bringing in of moneys on his broad shoulders. At that time, Krey sold his best talent: his skill with a sword. He became a mercenary, fighting for whomever paid the best. It was during this time that he ran into an old friend of the family, El Capitan Diego Miguel de la Vega, captain of El Gato Negro. El capitan was in a bit of a bind and was looking for trustworthy people to serve as his personal bodyguards. After some negotiating, Krey and his brothers and sister, Morgaine, signed on as El Capitan's bodyguards. It turned out to be a very profitable move for the MacLeods. Soon, El Capitan promoted Krey to first mate. After a while, El Capitan became landlocked, leaving Krey in charge of the of the small fleet of ships.

It was during this time that Krey was in Shanghai for business and took in a card game. He was being very lucky this evening, winning almost every hand. One particular player, Lo Pan Hsing, captain of the Rising Star, owed him quite a bit of gold. Lo Pan invited Krey back to his ship to collect. Unbeknownst to Krey, Lo Pan had been targeted by some others for assassination. The assassins attacked them both, not wanting to leave any witnesses. Krey grabbed the first weapon he could, a maul and attacked on behalf of Lo Pan. Together, they slew the assassins, however, Lo Pan was mortally wounded. With his final dying breath, Lo Pan named Krey the new captain of the Rising Star. Krey accepted but decided he needed to change the name. He looked down at the maul, stained with the crimson blood of their assailants and thought of the name. From that day forward, The Rising Star was known as The Crimson Hammer, its jolly roger flag flown with a crimson skull and two crossed hammers.

Krey now sails and commands the fleet from the Crimson Hammer. He also still dons his armour in time of war and will fight for king and country. In his down time, he also brews his own cordials, and trains others in the way of the sword.
