Kamejima Takauji-dono was born a third son in 1523. The first years of his life were spent growing up in a small fishing village on Fukuejima in the East China Sea, part of the Gotō 'Five Island Archipelago', off the West Coast of Kyushu.

Before reaching the age of 10, 'Taka' was adopted into the family of Yasumasa Toyohisa. Through Toyohisa's connections and knowledge, 'Taka' learned the ways of the Samurai. His training consisted of a balance between Kenjutsu (Katana), Kyūjutsu (Yumi), & Tetsubōjutsu (Tetsubō). Outside of martial activities 'Taka' has used the art of crafting Bonsai to focus his mind and to feel connected to his home on Fukuejima.

In 1543, Toyohisa became an adviser of, then 15 year old, Matsura Takanobu, the 25th Hereditary Lord of the Matsura Clan. A few years later at the request of Takanobu and with the encouragement of Toyohisa, 'Taka' joined the crew of the Chinese Wokou, and ally of Takanobu, Wang Zhi.

Currently living as a Japanese Wakō in 1550.

The Name: Kamejima Saburou Takauji

Kamejima: Translates to Turtle Island. Pronounced as Kah-May-she-Mah.
Saburou: Translates to Third Son, an order of birth. Pronounced as Sah-Bor-Roo
Takauji: Translates to Tall/High Clan. Pronounced as Tah-Kah-OO-Gee
-Dono: Title. Pronounced as Doe-Noe

Regardless of the information presented below I will always respond to 'Taka'.

That being said, anyone wishing to address me in an official/formal manner I offer the research found on Sengoku Daimyo [1] originally published by the Late, Anthony J. Bryant. Note: If you have any interest in Japanese Personas in the SCA time period I highly recommend looking at his work.
