== Introduction ==

Magister John Marshall atte Forde, OL was a of SCA since 1999. He sadly passed away on May 26, 2023, following a short illness.
 
The arts of food
<br>Magister John’s passion was learning about the foods and beverages of SCA period and bringing them to the understanding, and appreciation, of the modern world.  Many of today's most basic foods are similar to those of period, and we cannot understand today's food without knowing that of our ancestors.

His persona was that of a traveling 12th Century Merchant from the Shropshire area of England.  He is married to the half-Welsh Elizabet and together they traveled the world, collecting interesting objects and eating and cooking the foods they found.
