Introduction

Her Ladyship Isolda Fairamay resides in the Canton of Seashire in the Barony of Ruantallan in the Crown Principality of Tir Mara. She has been a member of the SCA since March 2009. She is currently an "Aide de Camp" within Crimson Company and apprenticed to Mistress Gwenhwyfar Dinas Emrys. Main areas of interest: Gluten free baking, sewing, illumination, and creation of atmosphere with decorations at events.

Persona

Isolda Fairamay, a shy and quiet fair maiden, left her family as a young woman, not wanting the responsibility that her noble birth granted her.

Instead, Isolda yearned to follow her creative spirit. She cast aside her 14th century nobility and name, and disappeared from her Lancashire home. “Fairamay”, a name meaning “fair friend”, is the name she took for herself

Isolda arrived at an inn on the southern shores of England, begged for a job, and began her new life as a simple bar maid. She quickly learned how to sew her own clothing with tutelage from the tavern owner’s wife who was a skilled seamstress. Hours of watching the innkeeper in the kitchen, Isolda soon followed her longing to try her hand at baking. She loved it. It satiated her creative thirst and she eventually became well known for her skill. She was particularly renowned for her ability to adapt during times of famine. When there was little to no wheat, rye or barley, Isolda was an expert in the baking of bread and other confections that used what grains remained. There was always a surprised smile on the faces of those who tried these baked goods for the first time.
