Introduction

Title Name. SCA Biography. Selected Awards (the Wiki is not the place to do a full awards list).

Persona

Hugh Tauerner is the proprietor of an inn in the town of Walsingham. His family have been innkeepers there since the 11th century, when Walsingham first became a place for pilgrimage and there was a need for a place for pilgrims to stay other than the priory.

Hugh is stuck in a timewarp -- for him the year is always 1536. The Dissolution of the Monasteries has begun, but has not reached Walsingham (which it won't till 1538) However, he can see which way the wind is blowing and is busily diversifying. No priory = no place of pilgrimage = no pilgrims = no guests for the inn = no income. He and his father before him, have acquired a number of business interests, including two farms (which supply the inn), several fishing boats, and in Norwich, a weaving shed with accommodation for the Flemish weavers he employs. Yes, Hugh owns a sweatshop and is a slumlord!

Hugh has an insatiable curiosity about foreign parts. He has traveled a little, to London and Canterbury, as well as to Bruges, Rotterdam, and parts of Northern France. He loves to hear the tales his customers bring of their travels, especially those who've been to the Holy Land.

Deputy exchequer, Barony of Carolingia, current.
