Introduction

Gerhardt von Hohensee joined the Society in A.S. 47, and picked up the rapier in A.S. 51.

Although historians have managed to recover a page of Gerhardt's memoir, very little is known of this mysterious figure.

Excerpt from "A Criticism of Popular Dueling Methods"

There is a particular trend I have observed amongst the French youth, that of attacking an opponent's foote; and whilst occasionally successful (in a manner of speaking), I cannot recommend this method against any serious adversarie; or, for that matter, against anyone wearing shoes. For whilst a barefoote peasant may be prone to such pedary offense, any respectable master of the dueling arte will be quick to punish this cockamamie comportment.

Fencing Style

Evidence suggests that Gerhardt was a proponent of Italian methods.
