Introduction

Mistress Fiona O'Maille o chaun coille

I'd heard of the SCA from reading author bios in te 80's and had my first encounter of scadians at a Teddy Bear festival in 1988, a few weeks later I found myself at Crest Fallen Tourney in the Shire of Bergental. I spent some time in Meridies,the moved to Carolingia, the Concordia and finally settled down in the Shire of Quintavia where I the putter in the gardens and orchard and with my dye pots and other projetcs to occupy my time.

Persona

Fiona lives in the late 900s Ireland in a time of relative peace, being hard won after much violence with Vikings. I picked that time because women were allowed to fight and be educated and hold property in their own right.She was orphaned as a small child and grew up among her aunt and uncle's household where she was allowed to run wild as long as she stayed out of her uncle's way. She learned to sword fight from her cousins, her aunt taught her to embroider, she was educated by Catholic monks and can read and write. She would frequently take refuge in the kitchens and learned to cook from watching others. She grew up in a farming community and can spin and dye wool.
