Born in 1578, Fearghus is a sailing wine merchant with family ties in Brittany and Scotland formed prior to the dissolution of the Auld Alliance in 1560. In order to protect his father's fame should he be caught during a less savory kind of acquisition, he is known by his mother's surname, mac Griogair.
