Introduction

Lady Elspeth Schmalczin von Meitingen, of the Shire of Ar n-Eilean-ne. Formerly Sorsha au Mara Cu, Sorcha o Mara Cu, Sorcha Deismireach inghean Murchadha, and Sorcha of Ar n-Eilean-ne. I joined the Society in 1990, after seeing a beautiful poster illustrated by Mistress Bridget Greywolf (then known as Caitlan) for a meeting aimed at growing the brand new Shire. I was active in the Shire as a fencer and in the Arts and Sciences until I moved West, to the Barony of Ruantallan, in 1995. I continued as a casual member, never seeking office, until I moved West again, out of our Kingdom, to the Canton of Eoforwic in the Kingdom of Ealdormere. I did not participate in the Society during this time. When I finally returned home in 2010 I was saddened to learn that the Shire had been dormant for several years. I started an unofficial Shire facebook group in 2016, and after a couple of years of not much happening, things finally started to pick up. An unofficial curia was formed on October 25, 2018 and by January 19, 2019 we had managed to get the Shire reinstated. We have had a few setbacks (officer turnover, Snowmaggedon, a pandemic), but we are still here, and determined.

Lady Elspeth is an innkeeper in the Swabian market town of Meitingen, on the river Lech.
