About Dalla

Magistra Dalla Óláfs kona (also known as Dalla Olafskona) resides in the Shire of the Northern Outpost in the Northern Region of the East Kingdom where over the years she has served as the MOAS, Chronicler, Chatelaine, and Herald for the local group. Her persona is late 10th century Svear [1].

Dalla's device symbolizes the light & hope that comes from knowledge and truth, encompassed by a yellow border representing service and good works which are light & hope personified through action.

Dalla was proteged to Master Harald Ulfson at Pennsic 29 (Aug 2000), and released from fealty in July of 2017. She jointly runs House Wolfhaven with Master Óláfr Haraldsson (also known as Olaf).

Hobbies & Interests

Dalla loves service. It's hard to say where you might find her at an event - teaching a class, working at gate, or maybe working at marshal's inspection point? The only guarantee is that when you do find her, she'll have a smile on her face because she'll be having fun! If she's not smiling, you can probably make her happy by saying, "Could you help me with...".

She loves to talk about Medieval Scandinavian Culture - especially about what Viking women may have worn. (Duchess Marieke van de Dal has been a great inspiration to her on that subject.) When you find her, she might be working on a fiber arts project like Embroidery, Tablet Weaving, or Naalbinding - she'd love to answer your questions and show you what she's working on. She does all of the costuming for Olaf and herself, making and embellishing most of what they wear.

Her son was born in 2015, so the focus of her service has shifted for a while to raising the next generation of SCAdians!

Milestones

Dalla has been active in the SCA since Fall of 1999, and held her first office in September of 2000.

On August 8th, 2007, she received her Award of Arms for her work in Norse Fiber Arts.

On January 30th, 2010, she earned a Journeyman's rank in the East Kingdom embroidery guild, Athena's Thimble [2]. She currently holds Competencies in the guild's Applique, Blackwork, Counted, Couching/ Laidwork, and Free Embroidery categories and wants to someday gain competencies in all 12 categories.

On August 11th, 2010, she became a companion of the King's Order of Excellence for the authenticity of her Norse kit.

On October 23rd, 2010, she became a companion of the Order of the Silver Crescent for her service in teaching Arts & Sciences classes, encouraging Viking Arts, and mending and creating loaner garb.

On January 24th, 2015 (at 38 weeks pregnant!), she became a companion of the Order of the Maunche for her skill at embroidery, authenticity of Norse kit, and service in encouraging other artisans through organizing displays, competitions, and a Dark Ages schola.

On July 1st, 2017, she was inducted into the Order of the Pelican for her diligent service to the Crown, Kingdom, and Society.
