Introduction
Signora Cristina Volpina, aka Domina Iulia Crispina, joined the SCA while away at college in the summer of 2011. Her first group, the Shire of Forth Castle (Meridies) will always be dear to her heart. She moved back to her homeland, the Barony of the Bridge, in autumn of 2012, and they are very much her people. She apprenticed to Countess Ianthe d'Averoigne in the winter of 2014. Both of them being mildly allergic to court and ceremonies, none was held, and the exact date is quite lost.
Mundanely, her background is in fashion design, historic textiles & conservation, plus a bit of textile science thrown in. She currently enjoys faculty privileges at a University library and is generally happy to assist fellow SCAdians in accessing research materials behind paywalls.
Unsurprisingly, A&S activities are her love, and many of her interests are textile centric. Her primary art is historical dyeing, and she has begun teaching this art. She also enjoys period cooking and volunteering in the kitchens at local events, as well as research into names and heraldry.
