Introduction
Catrin's love of theater drew her to the SCA with the chance to create mummings, plays and other historical theatrical performances. She's always happy to talk about theater. She periodically dabbles in administration and created the East Kingdom Gazette [1], an online news source for the East Kingdom.
Persona
Catrin o'r Rhyd For is a Welsh woman married to Sir Michael of York, a knight with whom she is raising three boys while managing their estates.
Offices & Positions
Catrin considers the most interesting office she has held to be Seneschale of Carolingia. There were others, but they've faded into memory.
Event Staff
In 1989, Catrin co-autocratted an event for the first time with Caitlin Davies, a partnership that continued through a Crown Tourney (1991) and a Board of Directors meeting (1992). Most recently she co-autocratted The Queen's Meadhall/King's & Queen's Bardic Champions with Svava Þorgeirsdóttir (2012) and an Autocrat's Symposium with Master Julian le Scot (2016).
Projects & Publications
Catrin worked on recreating mummings, disguisings and masques. Her article, “Mumming in the SCA”, was printed in Tournaments Illuminated (Summer AS XXVII, Issue 103).
Starting with The Tempest in 1997, Catrin directed several of Shakespeare's plays and mummings/masques written specifically for special occasions in the East Kingdom, as well as other theatrical diversions.
Catrin also created and ran the Laurels vs. Pelicans boffer fundraiser, the East Kingdom Calligraphy and Illumination calendar, and the East Kingdom Gazette.
More Information
Catrin was a founding member of the now retired House Windsmeet. She received an Augmentation of Arms from Edward III and Thyra II. She was made the 24th Tyger of the East by Brion III and Anna III.
