Introduction
Catrin's love of theater drew her to the SCA with the chance to create mummings, plays and other historical theatrical performances. She's always happy to talk about theater. She periodically dabbles in administration and is currently managing the site and content for the East Kingdom Gazette [1], an online news source for the East Kingdom.
Persona
Catrin o'r Rhyd For is a Welsh woman married to Sir Michael of York, a knight with whom she is raising three boys while managing their estates.
Offices & Positions
Catrin considers the most interesting office she has held to be Seneschale of Carolingia. There were others, but they've faded into memory.
Event Staff
In 1989, Catrin co-autocratted an event for the first time with Caitlin Davies, a partnership that continued through a Crown Tourney (1991) and a Board of Directors meeting (1992). Most recently she co-autocratted The Queen's Meadhall/King's & Queen's Bardic Champions with Svava Þorgeirsdóttir (2012).
Projects & Publications
From 1987-1996, Catrin worked on recreating mummings, disguisings and masques along with occasionally directing short plays and acting. Her article, “Mumming in the SCA”, was printed in Tournaments Illuminated (Summer AS XXVII, Issue 103).
Starting with The Tempest in 1997, Catrin has worked with Fergus MacRae directing several of Shakespeare's plays, mummings written specifically for special occasions in the East Kingdom and other theatrical diversions.
