Introduction

Caccia Trice Sthenone is a Heavy List fighter from the Barony of Bergental, with an interest in historical tattooing in Celtic and non-Asian culture

Name meaning: Huntress guided by Stheno. Stheno is Medusa’s gorgon sister.

Just before the pandemic, I found myself surrounded by a group of fun, enthusiastic, multi-talented humans. I was fascinated by their common hobby, the SCA, and specifically, heavy list fighting. As I started asking questions, I was encouraged to try on armor, to try throwing some shots, to try out different weapons. I was suddenly surrounded by teachers who were thrilled to include me in their passion. The particular household I was adopted into has very intentionally been encouraging women, and the LQBTQ+ community to participate in the predominantly male dominated section of the SCA. Quickly I found myself surrounded by 5 other new women fighters and we have all trained together from the ground up. We collectively swore fealty to Timbrien as her Women at Arms and have become known as the Valkyries.

Persona

Ancient Etruscan/Roman

According to Wikipedia: “The daughter of Phorcys and Ceto, Stheno was born in the caverns beneath Mount Olympus. She and her sister Euryale were both immortal, and the third sister, Medusa, was mortal. Of the three Gorgons, she was known to be the most independent and ferocious, having killed more men than both of her sisters combined. In Roman mythology, she was transformed into a Gorgon for her relationship to her sister Medusa, a priestess of Minerva, who had a sexual encounter with the sea god Neptune (mythology) in her goddess's temple. Furious with Medusa for this act of desecration, Minerva changed her into a terrible monster, along with her sisters Stheno and Euryale. Stheno tends to be depicted as a thin gorgon monster with red snakes curling around her head instead of hair. Earlier accounts, however, describe her as having a scaly head, a boar's tusks, bronzed hands, a protruding tongue, glaring eyes and a snake around the waist as a belt. When the Gorgon Medusa was beheaded by Perseus, Stheno and Euryale tried to kill him, but failed due to his use of Hades' cap, which made him invisible.”
