Introduction
Anna stumbled across the SCA quite by accident in 2010. She had heard briefly of it before, but didn’t pay it much attention. GNEW XXV (2011) was her first event.
Persona
Anna was born to a Greek immigrant family in Britannia, around the turn of the 3rd century. Anna’s early years were spent learning the trades of her parents – her mother, the seamstress, and her father, the baker. In her late teens, when a Roman campaign camped nearby, a Roman legionnaire found his way to their door enticed by the smell of fresh bread. He returned daily to purchase a loaf of bread and to visit with Anna. After a short time he asked for her hand in marriage. Anna travels with the Legio XX (the Twentieth legion) with her husband, Dominus Titus Claudius Silvanus on campaigns throughout Britannia. When the legion is at rest, Anna sets up her small shop from her camp where she plies the trades of her parents – mending clothing and baking to support the members of the legion and the families that travel with it. Her parents taught her to read and write in Greek. After she married, her husband (who was educated as a small child before enlisting in the military) taught her to read and write in Latin so that she could more easily interact with the Roman legionnaires and family members.
