Amanda works for a college library in the Capital District of NYS.  Known as Aife ingen Chonchobair in Derthaige (formerly Aoife inghean Conchobair) in the SCA, she focuses on the Bardic Arts, telling stories, writing poetry, singing songs, playing harp, and occasionally being a part of the infamous traveling bardic gong show.  She is married to [[Joel of Vestfell]] who continues to put up with this insanity.  She dabbles in the textile arts in her spare time as well.  She primarily plays in the Barony of Concordia of the Snows.  Aife has two students, [[Muirgen inghean Donngaile]] and Lady [[Marion Quyn]]. Muirgen is focused on jewelry making and post-Viking invasion Ireland.  Quyn is currently serving as Queen's Bard of the East.

Amanda is a writer in upstate NY. Her device is "Azure, three bezants each charged with a triskelion of spirals azure." She is married to Joel Messerer who continues to put up with this insanity. She dabbles in the textile arts in her spare time as well. She primarily plays in the Barony of Concordia of the Snows. Aife has one current apprentice, Lady Ástriðr Musi. Ástriðr is focused on fiber arts and clothing.

From October 2009 to October 2010, she was Baronial Bard of Concordia of the Snows to His Excellency Angus Kerr. From February 2010 to February 2011, she served as King's Bard of the East. On May 27, 2012, she was Elevated to the Order of the Laurel.

Persona

Aife is a late 7th Century Irish woman. Key events that would have affected her in her lifetime would include the Synod of Whitby (which attempted to bring the Celtic church in line with the Roman church), as well as the plague that swept through the British isles in the late 7th century.

Original Songs

Winter Elegy (Lyrics Soon. Recording if I can figure out how to get one up here.)

Eastern Tyger's Roar

Chorus: Now heed the call of Queen and King
as war drums thunder and battle rings.
Raise your voices and lift your swords;
the Eastern Tyger is called to war.

Beat your plowshares into swords,
black the fields from battle scars.
Guided by our eastern star,
hear the Tyger's mighty roar.
The Eastern Tyger roars!

Chorus

Bowman loose your arrows swift.
Foes will shake at blackened sky.
Sky will sing with fatal gift.
Guard us with your deadly eye.
The Eastern Tyger roars!

Chorus

Swear on chain of honor bright.
Kneel before your Tyger King,
Rise! the host of eastern knights.
Courage stands through anything.
The Eastern Tyger roars!

Chorus

Blood of heroes runs through our veins.
Blood, the price of honor and pride.
Blood that's shed by battle slain,
blood that cannot be denied.
The Eastern Tyger roars!

Sing the Praises of the Dragon (Written as a gift from TRM Edward and Marguerite for the Midrealm.) (Lyrics Soon. Recording if I can figure out how to get one up here.)

Caoilfhionn's Hymn to the tune of Seikilos

Sing for her, beloved rose.
Sing for Countess both fierce and gentle.
Praise the splendor of her noble heart.
Merciful and fearless.
Glory to this Rose.

  Sing for her, courtesy's rose.
Sing for joy of her constant smile.
Praise the generous and lovely Caoilfhlionn.
 Crown'd in grace and wisdom.

Roll of Kings Response (Old Irish aphorism set to music for the Coronation of Brennan II and Caoilfhionn II)

Sinn ag loighe ar in lucht romhainn, lucht oile orainn san uaigh. We rest on those who came before us, and others will rest on us in our grave.

Gift of the Eastern Crown (written for the occasion of Brennan II & Caoilfhionn II's Coronation)
Chorus: Oc Fírinde ina croidhedhaibh

Phonetic Chorus:

We'll follow flame of Eastern Rose,
Royal, steadfast, shining light.
Her laugh inspires a thousand souls
to swords, shields, and honor's fight.

We'll follow voice of fearsome King
kin to all whom he'd command.
Mantle of East for matchless one,
honor's exemplar in land.

To those acclaimed with honor crowned,
the Crowns we bestow in trust.
In tranquil time we give our home
to hearts proven strong and just.
